When i wanna trade with some a.i., the resources section is shaking like a maniac, i can't even see and select what they have on there section (energy credits or anything else) and it is so annoying . First of, like /u/Rhowryn says, you can just put system in sectors and you are fine. You'll lose some of the efficiency because the sector AI might not build what you want where you want it, but it's ok. If you really want to gift a system, propose a trade deal to an AI empire, you can trade away systems like any other good. Using this guide []. R5: When you open trade deal screen, you can randomly get a glitch where resources are cluttered on each other, so you can't pick what you need. Only reloading the game can fix this. Because Paradox can't, it seems.

The trade route length is unlimited, you don't need starbases for that. Starbase range is only used to a) collect the trade resources and b) protect the trade routes. Range of a) can be increased by trade hubs on your starbase, range of b) by weapons stuff like hangar bays or missile launchers.
